Our Partners Nigerian Gas Company (NGC)

The Nigerian Gas Company Limited (NGC), established in 1988, is a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). NGC's primary responsibilities include the gathering, treatment, transmission, and marketing of Nigeria's natural gas and its by-products to major industrial and utility gas distribution companies both within Nigeria and neighboring countries.

In 2016, NGC underwent a strategic restructuring, resulting in its division into two distinct entities:

  1. Nigerian Gas Processing and Transmission Company (NGPTC): Focuses on the processing and transmission of natural gas.
  2. Nigerian Gas Marketing Company (NGMC): Specializes in the marketing and distribution of natural gas products.

This reorganization aimed to enhance efficiency and better position the company within the evolving gas market.

NGC operates an extensive network of gas pipelines across Nigeria, including the notable Escravos–Lagos Pipeline System (ELPS). This 439 km pipeline, built in 1989, supplies gas from the Escravos region of the Niger Delta to various industrial sectors and power stations, such as the Egbin power station near Lagos.

As a key player in Nigeria's energy sector, NGC continues to contribute significantly to the country's industrial growth and energy supply, leveraging its infrastructure and expertise in natural gas management.
